The Department of Information Technology was established in the year 2019 with an intake of 60 and currently enhanced to 120 from the AY 2023. Led by Dr. G. Shyama Chandra Prasad with 25 years of teaching experience, the department boasts a team of highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated faculty. These faculty members not only act as research supervisors for various universities but are also actively encouraged to participate in professional development opportunities like conferences, workshops, and research publications.

The department's commitment to providing students with a cutting-edge learning environment is evident in its dedicated laboratories. Equipped with the latest hardware and software, these labs offer a comprehensive range of tools including Microsoft Products, industry-standard development suites like Rational (or its modern equivalent), Linux, data mining tools (like WEKA), embedded systems development software (like KEIL), and IDEs for popular programming languages (C/C++/Java). Additionally, the department is well-staffed with experienced technical and support personnel to ensure smooth operation.

Beyond curriculum, the department fosters a vibrant environment for students through its active association with prestigious institutions like IEI, CSI, IEEE, ISTE, and SCRS. Student chapters of these institutions organize various technical and professional activities, workshops, seminars, coding contests, and project development initiatives.
