Civil Engineering Department

About Department

Civil engineering is one of  the oldest engineering disciplines. “Our society would not be able to function as it does without the work of civil engineers”. The infrastructure that they help to build and maintain can benefit communities and individuals for generations.

Civil Engineering deals with entire infrastructure that includes Buildings, Water supply and Sanitation, Irrigation facilities and Transportation facilities. The old civil engineering discipline of sanitary engineering has evolved into modern environmental engineering with a wide range of applications for the Sustainable use of Resources and Smart growth. The academic program includes Planning, Analysis, Design and maintenance of the above infrastructural components. Civil engineering is an exciting profession because at the end of the day you can see the results of your work, whether that is a completed bridge, a high-rise building, a tunnel , or a hydroelectric dam.

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 2011 with an intake of 60 students and increased to 120 in the year 2019.

The department is equipped with state of art laboratory facilities in the areas of Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Surveying Hydraulics and Machinery. The department has a computer applications laboratory facility. The department is also equipped with a library apart from a central library.

The department has well qualified, experienced and committed faculty for teaching, research and consultancy works. The Department has 16 faculty members from institutions like IIT, IIIT, NIT & reputed universities with specialization in Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Water resources Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Construction Management etc.Three (3) faculty members are with PhD in their fields of specialization. All other faculty members are post graduates in engineering or technology. Few of the faculty members are pursuing their PhD in their chosen field of specialization.

The department has an ambiance of high discipline with commitment, conducive for high academic learning and training. The good academic environment and the excellent efforts of faculty and supporting staff fosters  the students to strive hard which  in turn have brought laurels to the Department and Institute by securing meritorious ranks in the university.

During the A.Y. 2015 – 16, 2017-18 our students secured 2nd and 3rd rank  among all the affiliated colleges of Osmania University. On the Academic Placements front too, the number of students of the Civil Engineering department, who secured jobs in Government Sector and Private Sector is commendable for a  relatively young Institute. Many of our students have opted for higher education and have successfully finished their education from reputed Institutions in India and Abroad. Few have also taken up research by enrolling in PhD programme in Universities Abroad. On the Extracurricular front also many of our students have bagged prestigious Gold Medals in College level, University level and State Level sports events. As a part of extra cultural activities, the institute organizes cultural fest, Annual day celebrations, Women’s day celebrations. There are various student clubs like Music Club, Matrusri Campus Connect, for showing their talent and demonstrating ideas implementation.

For promoting the academic atmosphere the department is actively involved in organizing Seminars/Symposia/Workshops  regularly for the professional development of faculty, staff and students.

B.E Civil engineering programme has been accredited by NBA (National Board of Accreditation) of AICTE during 2019.
